Does Your Praise And Worship Music Contain The Essential Ingredients?

Praise and Worship is an important part of the process of developing and maintaining a relationship with our Creator. It is an important link in our connection with our Heavenly Father Yahweh and the flow of His Holy Spirit, needed for our spiritual sustenance. What are the key elements of Praise and Worship?

Yahweh in the Holy Scriptures reveals some necessary elements of this process. Yahweh called David a man after His own heart (I Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22). David (pronounced Daveed in Hebrew) means loving or Beloved. One of the reasons he was beloved of Yahweh was that David expressed his love of Yahweh with his whole heart and soul. You can find the songs he wrote in the book of 150 Psalms (Tehillim) in the Holy Hebrew Scriptures known as "The Holy Bible".

In the Psalms there are exhortations to us that worship should be a part of our everyday life.

Psalm 22:27 "All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD [Yahweh]: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before You.

In Hebrew the word worship shaw-khaw' according to Strong's Concordance (taken from the free bible software e-sword) is defined as:

"to depress, that is, prostrate (especially reflexively in homage to royalty or God): - bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship." Psalm 29:2 Give unto the LORD [Yahweh] the glory due unto His name; worship the LORD [Yahweh]in the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 95:6 "O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD [Yahweh] our maker."

Psalm 96:9 "O worship the LORD [Yahweh] in the beauty of holiness: fear before Him, all the earth."

Psalm 99:5 'Exalt you the LORD [Yahweh[ our God [Father], and worship at his footstool; for He is holy."

Psalm 106:1 "Praise ye the LORD [Yahweh]. O give thanks unto the LORD [Yahweh]; for He is good: for His mercy endures for ever."

To start with, it is important to worship with the right attitude, humble and submissive to His will. We have to be open to His guidance and direction in order to fulfill our purpose here on earth. Worship is part of that process.

Part of the expression of that attitude in Praise and Worship also includes thanksgiving. Expressing thanks for His mercy and deliverance in our daily lives.

The Hebrew word To-dah is one of the words used defined in Strong's Concordance: (From H3034}; properly an extension of the hand, that is, (by implication) avowal, or (usually) adoration; specifically a choir of worshipers: - confession, (sacrifice of) praise, thanks (-giving, offering).

Here are some of the references in Psalms of Praise and Worship through giving thanks:

Psalm 106:1 "Praise you the LORD [Yahweh]. O give thanks unto the LORD [Yahweh]; for He is good: for His mercy endures for ever."

Psalm 92:1 "A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD [Yahweh], and to sing praises unto Your name, O Most High:"

Psalm 147:7 "Sing unto the LORD [Yahweh] with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God [Father]:"

Psalm 96:2 "Sing unto the LORD [Yahweh], bless His name;shew forth His salvation from day to day."

Psalm 106:1 "Praise ye the LORD [Yahweh]. O give thanks unto the LORD [Yahweh]; for He is good: for His mercy endures for ever."

Psalm 63:5 "My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips:"

Psalm 147:7 "Sing unto the LORD [Yahweh] with thanksgiving;sing praise upon the harp unto our God [Father]:"

Another necessary part of worship is Praise, which is done with rejoicing, combining words of thanksgiving and praise. This is done with singing and the skillful playing of musical instruments.

Everyone's voice is designed to be used in singing Praises. Everyone therefore can participate in Praise and Worship through song.

Psalm 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD [Yahweh]. Praise you the LORD [Yahweh].

Psalm 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD [Yahweh], all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Psalm 50:23 Whoso offers praise glorifies me: and to him that orders his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God [Yahweh your Father].

Psalm 33:1 "Rejoice in the Lord [Yahweh] o ye righteous for praise is comely for the upright"

The word praise in this verse is the Hebrew word "teh-hil-lah" which is defined as laudation specifically a hymn:-praise. (Taken from Strong's Concordance in e-sword).

Music is a necessary part of Praise and Worship. This music includes voice and instruments. King David wrote in the Psalms:

Psalm 135:3 "Praise the LORD [Yahweh}; for the LORD {Yahweh] is good: sing praises unto His name; for it is pleasant."

Psalm 33:3 "Sing unto Him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise."

Psalm 98:5 "Sing unto the LORD [Yahweh] with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm."

Psalm 150:4 "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs."

Psalm 150:3 "Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp."

Psalm 149:3 "Let them praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp."

The definition (taken from Strong's Concordance in e-sword) of the Hebrew words listed below, explain what is being expressed in the above scriptures:

zah-mah'A primitive root (perhaps identical with H2168 through the idea of striking with the fingers); properly to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, that is, play upon it; to make music, accompanied by the voice; hence to celebrate in song and music: - give praise, sing forth praises, psalms.

zim-rath

From H2167; instrumental music; by implication praise: - song.

Now that we've discussed the importance of Praise and Worship there is a final phase that includes following the instructions and direction of our Heavenly Father. We must worship Yahweh with an understanding of what we are doing and what we must do to obtain the ultimate goal of deliverance--Eternal Life in The Kingdom Of Yahweh. This is truly the type of Praise and Worship that is required.

Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the LORD [Yahweh] is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do His commandments: His praise endures for ever."

Psalm 119:7 "I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments."

Isa 66:2 "For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD [Yahweh]: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word."

So as you sing or play an instrument in your Praise and Worship of your Heavenly Father remember the apply the key elements.

1.Humility and submissiveness

2.Thanksgiving

3.Praise with joyful singing and music

4.Follow and Obey His instructions continuously
