Inspirational Music should be words and music that impart a divine influence on the mind and soul. Music is a very important function of society and has the power of influencing the mind positively (righteous) or negatively (unrighteous). Unfortunately much of our society's music is emphasizing negative messages and sounds which will eventually lead a person to experience misery, death and destruction.
Inspirational music should not be just relegated to "religious" or sacred music it should even include secular music. To have peace in our lives all of the music we listen to should turn our hearts and mind to the Heavenly Father Yahweh (The Creator of all things)from which comes Love Joy and Peace.
In the Holy Scriptures it tells us in Phil 4:8- "...Whatever things are true, whatever thing are honest, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." This is the what inspirational music should be all about.
While living in Ghana West Africa I had the opportunity in 2003 and in 2005 to take part in a Pan African Festival called Panafest. This is a festival that is held once every 2 years. Musicians primarily of African descent on the continent and abroad come and perform as part of the main attractions of the festival. A Youth Day was set aside for one day during each festival. Those of us participating in the planning of the event knew the importance of Prov. 22:6-"Train up a child in the way he should go and, when he is old, he will not depart from it." So since this festival promoted artistic ventures our goal was to use the arts to positively influence the youth's minds. The criteria for youth performers was to create and perform (music, plays, poetry etc.) with positive inspiring messages. Inspirational music was an important part of what we did.
(Look for future opportunities on this web site for a chance as a youth or adult to share some of your inspirational music and works of art.)
In 2003 and 2005 I was asked to write and perform a song for Youth Day. My song was chosen both years I participated as the Youth Day theme song.
The song I wrote in 2005 was entitled "Let's Rise Again", which also was the title song of my music production "Let's Rise Again-ABABIO" held in 2008/09 Pittsburgh PA. In which I shared some of what I learned and experienced the ten years I lived in Ghana West Africa.
Let’s Rise Again
Verse 1:
As I walked down this dusty road
My mind flashed back in time
When Africa reigned supreme
And we all knew we were Divine
The glow of the light that shined from us
Showed the whole world the way to go
They came from far and wide
Down on their knees they came to bow
Verse 2:
Death destruction disease and poverty
Came through the door we left wide
open for our enemies
They brought us down to our knees
Crucified us and left us hanging from trees
We bore the sins and the ills of the whole world
Now it looks as if they’ve destroyed us finally
But we can’t blame them totally
For ourselves we must take total responsibility
Chorus
So remember that the power of our Creator
starts from within
Never think that they can help us solve
this mess we're in
Never lose hope our solutions cures begin
With the knowledge of who we are and
reconnecting with our Creator inside once again
Verse 3:
So don’t despair virgin mother Africa
Your children of Yahweh they shall rise again
So join our hands let’s love ourselves
Cause we all are fellow Africans
Let’s show the whole world that together
With Yahweh on our side we can rise again
So don’t be fooled by the illusions
As it was in the beginning so shall it be
In the end.
Go to Chorus And our world will be in heaven,
heaven, eternally.
